Netflix confirms Ozark will return for a fourth and final season

Netflix has confirmed that drug drama Ozark will return for a fourth and final season.

Starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, the series follows Marty (Bateman) and Wendy (Linney) Byrde as they move to the Ozarks to work for a Mexican drug cartel.

Noted for its demure setting and washed-out gradient style of shooting, Ozark is a gritty and addicted crime epic that also explores inter-personal family dynamics and the erosion of the American dream.

Announcing the news of Twitter, the streaming giant also revealed that the roll-out for the final season will come with a twist.

‘Ozark will return for a fourth and final season,’ they wrote, ‘split across two parts – each of seven episodes.’

It ended with Helen being killed by cartel boss Omar Navarro (Felix Solis), giving the final confirmation that the family had been accepted by the gangsters once and for all.

Series creator Chris Mundy previously teased that ‘karma’ could be expected in the fourth season, which was at the time unconfirmed.

‘I think it will be about if the Byrdes can they turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage,’ Mundy said. ‘And how much will karma catch up with them if they do?’

Well, we guess we’ll find out soon.

Ozark is available to stream now via Netflix.
