Dan Walker is currently the favourite to be booted off Strictly Come Dancing this weekend – and it looks like he could be in danger after being quite behind in training due to an injury.
Last Saturday, Dan and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova found themselves near the bottom of the leaderboard following their Couple’s Choice routine, before managing to swerve the dreaded dance-off.
However, as they prepare take on the American Smooth, they could be in trouble after the BBC Breakfast star confessed that he is falling behind with training.
Appearing on Strictly: It Takes Two today, host Janette Manrara asked the pair how training was coming along, with Dan revealing an ‘injury’.
‘It’s been going alright, we’ve had a slight issue this week. I had a bit of an injury to my left calf,’ he said.
‘We haven’t been able to do that much dancing this week, have we?’
His partner responded: ‘No, to be honest, until today, between Monday and Wednesday we had a few hours of eggshell training.
‘But, how [Dan] puts himself together, I can see how much pain he’s in but he’s like, “I’m fighting through, I love this dance and I really want to do it.”
‘Today as we rehearsed for a few hours, he pulled it together!’
Elsewhere in the chat, Dan revealed a funny incident during training this week, as he continues to get to grips with the routine.
‘One training secret for you, we did a big lift and I got Nadiya right up in the air and then I slightly dropped her a bit and she headbutted me in the groin,’ he shared, leaving Nadiya and Janette shocked.
The host quickly stepped in and said: ‘We’re going to leave it on that note!’
The latest odds from bookmakers Ladbrokes show Dan in a three-horse race for elimination alongside Sara Davies and Tilly Ramsay, as the competition continues to get tougher.
Dan is currently edging the betting at odds of 2/1, with Sara and Tilly close behind at 9/4 apiece.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: ‘As we get to the business end of the competition it’s proving difficult to pick which celebrity will be eliminated.
‘Dan is the worthy favourite to leave next given his poor scoring still, but with a loyal BBC fanbase voting to save him it could well be Tilly or Sara that’s axed.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night at 6.40pm on BBC One.
