Former EastEnders actress Nina Wadia has revealed she was left “gutted” after becoming the first celebrity contestant to be eliminated on Strictly Come Dancing this year. The star teamed up with professional dancer Neil Jones on the BBC show, but the pair struggled to impress the judges and viewers at home. However, Nina has now revealed she’ll be making a return to the ballroom for the final episode of the series.

On Sunday morning, Nina appeared on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.

While chatting on the show, Alan quizzed the actress about her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

Looking back at Nina’s performances, the presenter asked: “How nervous were you performing a Samba in front of millions of viewers?”

Nina replied: “Hugely nervous. It’s considered the dance of death by the pros, they say if you get the Samba you’re out.”

“Oh, really?” Alan asked, with Nina saying: “Honestly, it’s one of the hardest ones.”

“It was terrifying and yet really fun,” she revealed.

The actress told Alan she loves to dance and was “gutted” her time in the competition ended so quickly.

Alan was keen to know how Nina felt about the judges, remarking: “Craig is not one for mincing his words is he?”

Nina said: “No, I mean to be honest, the judges have to play their roles. You know, I call them panto roles. You’ve got to have the villain.

“But, at the end of the day, someone had to go out first and it was just sad that it was me because I felt like I had so much more to give.”

Alan asked Nina if she’ll keep dancing now that she’s left the competition and the actress assured him she will.

She said: “I’m still friends with Neil and he’s an incredible dancer. We’re friends and it’s just really nice.

“I get to go back at the final and do a little group number, so I’m looking forward to that,” Nina revealed, confirming she’d be back on the show soon.

She made it clear she was still in contact with her fellow celebrities from the current series of Strictly.

“We have group chats and we have a laugh there and it’s a great bunch, a really great bunch of guys,” she said.

“Do you recommend it?” Alan questioned, with Nina replying: “Yeah, I do. I think it’s a great experience.”

This year’s series of Strictly is currently in its seventh week, marking the halfway point in the competition.

There are currently nine stars remaining as the dance contest continues to heat up.

However, another famous face will be eliminated this evening, as the results of the public vote are revealed.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7:15pm on BBC One and Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh airs Sundays at 9:30am on ITV.
