The upbeat comedy-drama Ted Lasso is entering its darker period as the ongoing second season takes its characters to some unexpected places. Away from the hit Apple TV+ series, main cast member Hannah Waddingham has landed her next role in Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon’s next series on Fox.

Hannah Waddingham has joined Dan Harmon’s new series Krapopolis alongside a voice cast of comedy greats.

The new series from the Rick and Morty showrunner follows a family of gods, monsters and humans who try to lead one of the world’s first cities in Ancient Greece.

Waddingham will be portraying Deliria, the goddess mother of the show’s mortal protagonist, Tyrannis.

Deliria is described as the goddess of chaos, one of the most self-destructive members of the Olympian pantheon.

Among her celestial friends and family, an official description confirms, Deliria is known as the ‘trashy one’.

The series will be launched in 2022 on Fox, following Hannah Waddingham’s second season reprisal of her Ted Lasso character, Rebecca Welton.

The star will also be joined by fellow Brits Richard Ayoade as Tyrannis and Matt Berry as Schlub.

A description revealed: “Ayoade voices the mortal son of a goddess and benevolent King of Krapopolis, Tyrannis, who is trying to make do in a city that lives up to its name.”

Meanwhile, Berry will lend his dulcet tones to Tyrannis’ mantitaur (half centaur, half manticore) father.

Podcaster Duncan Trussell is also on board as Tyrannis’ half-brother Hippocampus, with Pam Murphy as his half-sister Stupendous.

Krapopolis is just one of several new projects lined up for Dan Harmon following the conclusion of Rick and Morty’s fifth season on Adult Swim.

The writer and producer is already at work on the upcoming sixth and seventh seasons of the popular animated comedy.

Plus, he is still in early development stages of a series based on Kurt Vonnegut’s classic science fiction book, The Sirens of Titan.

Outside of Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham is most recently known for her role as Sofia in Sex Education, one of the mothers of Jackson Marchetti (played by Kedar Williams-Stirling).

She is also known for her recurring role as Septa Unella in Game of Thrones and her starring part in the Superman prequel, Krypton.

Her upcoming stint in Krapopolis will mark her first foray into voice acting for an animated series.

Dan Harmon’s upcoming project has also attracted considerable controversy as the first ever animated project curated entirely on the Blockchain.

This means the show’s official merchandise will be available as digital NFTs, including ‘one-of-a-kind character and background art and GIFs, as well as tokens that provide exclusive social experiences to engage and reward super fans.’

However, the series will still be free-to-watch in the US on Fox, though its international releasing schedule has yet to be confirmed.

Ted Lasso season 2 continues Fridays on Apple TV+. Krapopolis will premiere in 2022 on Fox.
