Luke Pritchard and his wife Ellie Rose have found a Kooky way to hit back at critics of their 11-year age gap… they are releasing the ultimate ‘f*** you’ track.
The Kooks frontman and his singer-songwriter wife are using their record Don’t Judge to hit back at those who judged them harshly for hooking up.
In a Mr & Mrs catch-up with Guilty Pleasures, Naïve singer Luke, 35, said: ‘The chorus is such a universal “f*** you” lyric. I thought it was really powerful.’
The record, their first joint EP and video, drops tomorrow and Ellie added: ‘Don’t Judge is kind of a “mind your own business” song. Luke had the lyric, “Don’t judge our love”, which was quite prominent to us at the time.’
Adding that she had been attacked for her ‘reputation’, she said that when they first met: ‘We had a bit of an age gap. A bit of drama. I was 20. I wasn’t that young though, I think it was more the dynamic.’
Luke concurred: ‘We got a bit of a tough time… there were a few frowns. The song is quite sensual. Ellie wanted to make a bit of a statement. People are just waiting to hate. We live in that world where we are waiting for someone to say something, which is a really f***ed-up thing. People will judge you anyway.’
Ellie has no qualms about airing their dirty laundry on the EP. ‘There is something quite sexy about being vulnerable,’ she explained.
‘People are so ready to put you on the chopping block. It’s like, “Put yourself there first”.’
The collaboration came about after they tried to record a festive song for his nan during their first Christmas as a couple. ‘The Christmas song was really bad,’ admitted Ellie. ‘Although his gran liked it!’
With their EP the first part of an ongoing project, Luke feels the pair have beaten the odds when it comes to couples working together.
He quipped: ‘We haven’t killed each other and we made some good music. It’s a wonderful thing.’
Our baby? I just can’t wait to Ygritte it, says GoT star Rose
Rose Leslie is impatient to meet her baby with hubby Kit Harington.
Opening up about her pregnancy for the first time, she says the Game of Thrones co-stars are already getting in some parenting practice with their new pooch.
‘I am thrilled to be expecting, and I can’t wait to meet the new member of our family!’ said the 33-year-old Scottish beauty, who played Ygritte.
The couple took in their pet during lockdown. Kit, aka Jon Snow, was spotted tripping over the whippet on the streets of London earlier this year.
‘It was a wonderful thing,’ said Rose. ‘If we hadn’t been forced to stay behind our front door, we couldn’t properly train her and make sure she didn’t poop all over the house.’
She also revealed she is to blame for 33-year-old Kit losing his famous black curls because she failed to concentrate while giving him a lockdown haircut.
Rose told the New York Post: ‘I had the phone in my right hand. I took the shears in my left hand, and… I dug too deep! It was rather hilarious, but also awful.
‘Fortunately, he looks great with a semi-shaved head, so it was fine.’
Split means Alex won’t be a Wag-a-mama with Angus
It’s game over for Alexandra Burke’s days as a Wag after she deleted her romance with footballer Angus MacDonald.
The singer had been with the Rotherham United player for 15 months — including while he successfully battled bowel cancer last year.
They had discussed having kids after their whirlwind romance sparked up weeks after the former X Factor winner’s split from fiancé Josh Ginnelly last summer.
But after Alexandra, 32, wiped all her Instagram PDAs with Angus, 28, pals confirmed she is back on the market.
With the defender back in training, the friends blamed lockdown — and the couple’s respective careers — for making seeing each other difficult.
When Emeli’s pal took Sandé stage
Emeli Sande admits that falling in love with someone she considered just a friend inspired her latest track.
The Brit winner revealed in the summer that she is dating rapper Jonathan Kabamba.
Explaining her new tune More Of You, with Stonebwoy and Nana Rogues, Emeli, 33, admits: ‘I was falling in love and I wanted to sum up the feeling that creeps up on you and catches you by surprise.
‘The feelings are subtle, a strange sensation of missing someone you consider a friend which starts to build.
‘In this song I wanted to capture the crossover moment when you realise the subtle feelings you once perhaps denied have now been realised into something undeniable.’
Jen opens up about love life
Jennifer Garner has explained why celebrity romances crash and burn so quickly. After lasting 13 years with former Batman star Ben Affleck, the mum-of-three, 48, says stars’ love lives start to mirror the headlines.
Jennifer added: ‘There’s something about seeing yourselves reflected in news of some kind. If you are starting to be serious with someone and they say, “When are they gonna be engaged?” it’s almost like you just want to get there and maybe it will die down.
‘Then it’s “trouble in paradise” and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.’
Hugh’s new job as a Barbie-er

The 60-year-old, who has five kids, spilled: ‘I started by cutting my daughter’s Barbie’s hair out of sheer boredom, and I discovered I was extremely talented.’
