The Tourist filming locations: Where was the BBC drama filmed?

THE new BBC One mystery thriller starring Jamie Dornan is set to hit our TV screens January 1, 2021.

Set in Australia, BBC have promised to deliver another top quality drama. 

Where was The Tourist filmed?

Filming for the new BBC drama predominantly took place in the regional areas of South Australia towns such as Port Augusta, Quorn, and Peterborough as well as in Adelaide.

Filming for the new thriller series took place in South Australia in Autumn 2021 with $3.6 million in support from the Morrison Government’s Location Incentive program.

The filming was announced by the Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, and the Hon Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia.

Premier Steven Marshall said the 17-week shoot is the biggest television production ever to be made in South Australia

“Securing The Tourist is a real coup for South Australia – not only will it create hundreds of local jobs, it will put South Australia’s remarkable landscape on show right around the world,” Premier Marshall explained.

“The Tourist will inject an estimated $12.1 million into our local economy and provide opportunities to showcase the skills of our local crew here in SA.

“I commend the extraordinary capability of South Australian Producer Lisa Scott in bringing this international BBC and Stan production to our State.”

What is The Tourist about?

The action-packed series follows Jamie Dornan as a British man who ends up Down Under and to which he gets chased by a truck which attempts to drive him off the road.

After an epic chase, he wakes up in hospital, but has no idea who he is.

People from his past return to haunt him which sees a race against time to find out the truth of who he is and who he once was.

Will he be able to find it out or will he be silenced by those around him?

When is it on BBC One and how can I watch it?

The series will start on BBC1 on Saturday January 1, 2022 at 9pm.

After episodes have aired you'll be able to watch them on the iPlayer.

In the US the series is set to air on HBO Max, but there is yet to be a release date.
