Vikings season six part two is the final instalment in the series and it will hopefully be on Prime Video and History by early 2021. Fans are still waiting for an official release date, but one of the actresses from the historical drama suggested an earlier release date of December 2020. Kristy Dawn Dinsmore, who plays Amma in the series, shared an update on Instagram – here’s everything you need to know.

Will Amma return to Vikings in part B after Instagram hint?

Amma was the shieldmaiden who looked after Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) in the latest season of Vikings, and she joined Bjorn Ironside’s (Alexander Ludwig) raiding party in Kattegat.

She also watched over Mangus (Dean Ridge), who claimed to be one of the sons of the famous Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), and Amma questioned him about his religious beliefs.

In season six she made it her mission to take care of Hvitserk, after his girlfriend Thora (Eve Conolly) was killed by Ivar’s (Alex Høgh Andersen) men.

Actress Dinsmore is the former girlfriend of Bjorn actor Ludwig, but the pair split up recently. Fans spotted a post on her Instagram story suggesting she will be a part of the final season.

Reddit fans shared the post on November 15, which purported to be from Dinsmore’s Instagram story, and showed a picture of the star with the message: “Season six out December people”.

The post also tagged the official Vikings account. Even though the image was supposedly posted eight hours previously, there is no knowing when it was shared.

Fans are wondering whether the post is real, as they have still not seen an official trailer for the second half of season six.

While one fan said: “Hope this is true”, another fan said: “Doubt it…there would be a trailer already”.

While viewers are yet to hear any official news about a release date, there is a high chance Amma will return for the final episodes, as her Instagram bio still says she plays the character in the series.

Sadly she has not shared any Vikings-related content for a while, with her last post being back in February 2020.

One fan commented on the photo of the star as Amma saying: “Hope to see more Amma in the near future!”

Some viewers failed to recognise the star in the photo, with one saying: “She looks really familiar, probably a dumb question but who is she again?”

Another viewer said: “Don’t think we met her before but I have a feeling Bjorn will be involved somehow.”

Amma was in fact first introduced in the second half of season five, when she looked after Magnus on a boat trip. She took on a bigger role in the first half of season six, after Hvitserk started experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms.

He had started experiencing hallucinations following the death of his girlfriend and turned to alcohol as a way of calming himself.

While most of his family cast him aside due to his addiction, Amma saw how vulnerable he was and she took it upon herself to look after him, even following him into the woods when he ran off.

When the first half of season six aired at the end of 2019, Dinsmore shared some photos of herself with some of her fellow co-stars on social media.

She posted a photo of herself with Ingrid actress Lucy Martin, who is also expected to make a comeback in the second half of season six.

Fans will be interested to see what role Amma plays in the final episodes, and whether she will continue to support Hvitserk now he has joined Ivar in the Rus battle.

Judging by her photos from earlier in 2020, she may get more screentime with Ingrid, who was sexually assaulted by King Harald (Peter Franzén).

So far she has played the role of caregiver in the series, so she may act as a shoulder of support for Ingrid following her terrifying ordeal with Harald.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the second half of season six and Torvi actor Georgia Hirst suggested it could air in early 2021.

She said due to the coronavirus pandemic the final half of season six has been delayed, but she had heard it would be released at the beginning of next year.

Hirst revealed filming for the final half of season six finished about three years ago, but she was just as much in the dark about the release date as anyone else.

Fans have taken to Twitter in anticipation ahead of the final episodes, with one saying: “What happened to Vikings season 6 part 2. I’m sure the last 10 episodes were suppose to be released by now. [sic]”

The first episode of season six aired on December 4, 2019, but it is yet to be revealed whether fans will see the second half of season six released at a similar time.
