PIERS Morgan isn't one to shy away from a debate live on air.
But the ex-Good Morning Britain presenter's clash with Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu on the breakfast show is one of his more memorable. Here's what went down…
What was the row between Piers Morgan and Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu?
Piers Morgan and Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu had a showdown live on Good Morning Britain in March 2021 in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed the reason her son Archie was not made a prince may have been because of the colour of his skin.
Defending Markle's corner, Mos-Shogbamimu branded Morgan "disgusting" for his response to the interview.
Mos-Shogbamimu said to the then-presenter: "The royal family is an institution rooted in colonialism, white supremacy, and racism. The legacy is right there.
"So you’re now surprised that a comment would have been made by several members of the royal family about how dark Archie’s skin is.”
“Let me finish,” Mos-Shagbamimu said. “You’re more outraged that Harry and Meghan had the audacity to speak their truth than at the actual outrage of racism.”
Morgan responded: “I think what you just said about the queen is disgusting.”
“You are disgusting!” Mos-Shagbamimu told him.
Piers said: "Allow me to explain. Allow me to defend our Royal Family.
"The Queen is 94, her husband is 99 and lying in hospital seriously ill."
Dr Shola simply replied: "So what?"
She also called Piers a "disappointment" live on television.
She said to Morgan: "What I don't think is funny is the fact that you are such a disappointment.
"I wish to God one day you would surprise me. You constantly use your platform as a wealthy, white, privilege man with power and influence…"
Mos-Shogbamimu added: "Let me give my reaction to you, Piers. OK? Every rant you have given in the last hour, you are such a liar and a disgrace."
Who is Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu?
Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu is a British-born Nigerian activist and political commentator.
She frequently appears to comment on race and diversity issues on current affairs television shows.
An author and lawyer, Mos-Shogbamimu has a PhD in Law from Birkbeck, University of London.
Her first book, This is Why I Resist, was released in January 2021 and her writing is featured in the The Guardian and The Independent.
What has Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu said about Piers Morgan?
Speaking on BBC following Morgan's dramatic exit from Good Morning Britain, Dr Mos-Shogbamimu accused the presenter of being "maliciously obsessed" with the Duchess of Sussex.
She was asked whether she thought it was right for the presenter to have quit his role, and she responded: "I think, love him or hate him, agree or disagree, there is no denying that his malicious obsession over Meghan Markle is truly reprehensible.
"His irrational dislike of her has led him to abuse his position as a host on one of the national platforms of the country.
"That means he inevitably escalates and aggravates the bigotted, racist, sexist and misogynistic attacks on Meghan Markle."
