Hollyoaks' star Owen Warner has opened up about his tragic year amid his mum's devastating health battle.
The TV hunk, 24, heartbreakingly revealed his mum, Polly, who was regularly seen on TV when Owen starred on I'm A Celebrity last year, has heart failure.
Polly has reportedly suffered from a congenital heart condition her entire life and had open heart surgery as a child as well as subsequent surgeries throughout her three sons' lives.
However it has now been revealed that she'll most likely need to have heart transplant one day in the future as the surgeries she's already had haven't been enough.
Discussing his mum's health problems with the Daily Mail, Owen reflected on how his mum's health battle has impacted their family life.
He said: "Nothing makes you step back and look at things more than somebody in your family having problems with their health.
"Our mum means so much to us, she's the heart of the family, so the news we've had over this past year has been really hard to hear.
"Mum has helped us all through so much and been so strong for us all, now it's our turn to do the same for her."
Owen and his two brothers, which fans previously said looked so similar, are all supporting their mum, and this month his brother Louie is running the Goodwood Marathon to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
The family plan to contribute towards life saving research that could help their mum and others suffering too.
Actor Owen, who was previously described by his co-star as a "mummy's boy", was born and raised in Leicester, where he lived with his mum Polly, dad Tim and two older brothers, Jake and Louie.
However, he now lives in Liverpool after joining the Hollyoaks cast in 2018.
Polly usually speaks to her son every day and Owen even FaceTimed her while on his flight to Australia for I'm A Celeb last year.
In one adorable photo posted to his social media last year, Owen showed his admiration for his mother as he put a protective arm around his doting mum as the duo smiled for the camera.
Captioning the snap, the soap star wrote: "Honestly don’t know where I’d be without this absolute gem [heart emoji]".
During lockdown, Owen even sent his beloved mum Polly a cushion with his own face printed on it to make sure that she constantly had a reminder of her son.
The recent news of his mum's health battle comes amid Owen and Jemma Donovan saying they are better than ever in response to rumours that they had decided to call it quits on their off-screen relationship.
