Suranne Jones, 43, initially won viewers over with her breakthrough role in Coronation Street before going on to starring in the likes of Doctor Foster and Gentleman Jack.
She’s now about to return to out screens for series two of BBC’s epic drama Vigil.
Her character DCI Amy Silva was tasked with investigating a suspicious death that took place on-board a submarine in the first series.
Now Amy is back to investigate mysterious deaths in the Middle East caused by drones.

Where did Suranne Jones grow up?
Suranne was born in 1978 in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, and has one older brother named Gary.
She was raised a Catholic, and was christened as Sarah Anne instead of Suranne, which was her great-grandmother's name, as her priest suggested Suranne was “not a proper name”.
The TV star first got into acting when she became a member of the Oldham Theatre Workshop, where she completed a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

They met in 2013 at the wedding of her close friend Sally Lindsay – who she met in her Coronation Street days.
The couple got married the following year at Islington Town Hall in August 2014.
They are currently thought to be living in Muswell Hill, north London, with their one son, who Suranne gave birth to in 2016.

The actress has been involved with numerous charities over the years, including working with Christian Aid.
At one point she travelled to Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo with the organisation to help with projects concerning HIV, women's rights and child soldiers.
More recently, she has worked with the Alzheimer’s Society and Penny Brohn UK, a cancer charity.
When she was a teenager, her mother Jenny was diagnosed with breast cancer, and said: "At the time we did a breast cancer campaign together. I still do a lot of charity runs."
Elsewhere, Suranne has been open about having anxiety following the death of both her parents.
Her dad died after contracting coronavirus during the pandemic, and her mum died a few years prior.
“I’m on medication and, at some point, I’ll aim to get off that,” she told Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast.
She went on: “I think there’s a huge taboo around it and I wasn’t going to say it but I decided last night I should because it’s important I think.”
