ITV celebrates huge milestone as it beats Netflix, Prime and Disney+ to prestigious streaming award | The Sun

ITV is celebrating after a huge win at the Edinburgh TV awards, where the streaming service beat Netflix, Prime and Disney+ to a prestigious prize.

ITVX scooped the number one place for the Best On Demand Service last night, after new shows like Vanishing Act and Six Four saw viewer numbers skyrocket.

The first is a drama about the real-life story of fraudster Melissa Caddick, who is known for swindling her clients out of at least £7.3 million in invested funds.

While facing fraud charges she went missing, and all that was ever found of her was her severed foot, which washed up on a beach in southern Australia three months after her disappearance.

The three episode mini-series which premiered on ITVX shows a dramatized version of what may have happened in the period before Melissa went missing, and speculates on why she disappeared.

Six Four is another fan favourite compelling drama.

Love & Death is an American true crime series featuring big names like Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons.

The new show focuses on the story of a housewife from Texas who was accused of murder in the 1980s.

Rufus Radcliffe, the Managing Director of Streaming, shared his delight at coming in first place as he paid tribute to the team behind ITVX.

He said: "To be named Best On Demand Service at the prestigious Edinburgh TV Awards less than nine months since we first launched ITVX, and against such heavyweight competitors in the same category, is such an accolade for the platform and the committed team across ITV behind it."
