Netflix fans switch off new horror The Little Things after just two minutes as it 'sends anxiety through the roof' | The Sun

NETFLIX fans were so terrified they switched off newly-released horror film The Little Things after a matter of minutes.

The psychological thriller left some viewers so scared that they had to abandon the movie before it "sent their anxiety through the roof."

The Little Things, released in 2021, landed on Netflix UK at the beginning of September and has caused a buzz on social media.

It's a police neo-noir psychological thriller film set in Los Angeles, with several mind games throughout, but it's not what you'd deem a typical horror movie.

The film was directed by John Lee Hancock, who is known for historical dramas The Alamo and Saving Mr Banks and sports films such as The Rookie and The Blind Side, with a notable cast including Oscar winners Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto, as well as Olivia Washington, Natalie Morales, and Sofia Vassilieva.

A portion of the film's synopsis that details the plot reads: "Deputy Sheriff Joe 'Deke' Deacon joins forces with Sgt. Jim Baxter to search for a serial killer who's terrorizing Los Angeles.

"As they track the culprit, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke's past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case."

The streaming giant fans took to X and expressed how they felt after watching the film, as one fan penned: "2min 52 sec into Netflix the little things and it's made me so anxious I've had to turn it off."

A second echoed: "Watching The Little Things on Netflix and the first 2 minutes are so scary I’m not sure I can continue."

A third chimed in: "Nah The Little Things has messed me up, I'm out."

However another more positive viewer hailed Denzel Washington for his performance and said: "The little things' on Netflix…….WOW, what a movie. Proper old school, Denzil [sic] Washington at his best."

While a fifth person added: "I watched "The Little Things" on Netflix. It's an effective and enjoyable crime thriller, EXCEPT that the main character is unironically called Joey Deacon."

The Little Things received a largely positive reception, with IMDb rating it a  6.5 out of 10, with Jared Leto picking up an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor off the back of his turn.

But on Rotten Tomatoes, it only boasts a 45 per cent score, and others have also highlighted some flaws within the film.

Moreover, the film is worth watching if you're interested in psycho-films with jumps and scares while trying to pass the time.

The Little Things is available to watch on Netflix now.
