Former Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy took to Instagram on Friday, 24 November, to mark his father's milestone 90th birthday with a dedicated post.
The Channel 4 newsreader, who recently lost out to Angela Rippon in the Strictly Dance Off, thanked his dad for being a "remarkable man" as he gushed about his longstanding NHS achievements.
The proud TV star revealed his dad Dr Krishnan Guru-Murthy has worked for the NHS since 1962.
Krishnan's recent Strictly exit meant he just missed out on the chance to perform on the iconic dancefloor in Blackpool last week but he's been able to take the time to celebrate his dad's 90th birthday
Sharing a glimpse at some special family moments with his 49,600 followers, the presenter posted a selection of photos of his dad over the years.
Penning a heartfelt caption, Krishnan wrote: "Happy 90th Birthday Dr Krishnan Guru-Murthy! He’s at work today as usual, in the NHS, where he must surely by now be the longest serving Consultant Radiologist on record.
"He became an NHS doctor when he arrived in the UK in 1962 and was made a consultant in the early 1970s. Here are a few photos of Dad – the most recent I have with my Mum recently and the oldest I have when they got married, and a few in between with my brother and sister.
"We don’t have any from when he was a boy because he was orphaned young and the family lost everything as refugees in the war anyway."
Strictly star Krishnan, 53, finished his post by sharing how 'grateful' he is to have his father.
He added: "He’s a remarkable man – and we’re all very grateful for him still being around to dispense his wit and kindness to us, his grandchildren and everyone."
In the first snap, Krishnan looked proud as he posed alongside his parents.
Krishnan flashed his smile – and the resemblance between him and his father is uncanny. Other snaps included Krishnan's father at family occasions throughout the years.
Krishnan's sweet family post is a stark contract to when his own son Jay first begged him not to participate in the BBC competition and refused to join the rest of his family on the launch of the first episode of the season.
But luckily after a few weeks of watching his dad dazzle on the show, the tables turned and Jay joined the live studio audience to support his dad.
Krishnan told The Daily Mail at the time: "'He begged me not to. It got to the point where, the week before I started and I hadn't signed my contract, which I casually mentioned and he said, 'You haven't signed your contract, so you don't have to do it? Please don't do it.'"
