Only Fools and Horses fans left gobsmacked as they realise unlikely character was 'totally ripped' | The Sun

FANS of Only Fools and Horses were gobsmacked when they clocked that an unlikely character was actually 'totally ripped'.

The BBC sitcom follows two brothers who try to make more bang for their buck while reselling second-hand goods.

Actor Buster Merryfield played Uncle Albert, who started living with Del Boy in season four.

And people who love the show were shocked to discover that the old man has an impressive muscular physique.

One viewer took to social media and posted a photo of the balding uncle with his bulging biceps on display as he wore a see-through mesh tank top.

They captioned the snaps: "Is it just me or is Uncle Albert f**king hench?"

A watcher laughed: "Hunkle Albert do you mean?"

Meanwhile some fans knew the reason why the actor behind the character was so fit despite being in his 60s.

One explained: "Legend. He followed a strict fitness regime of daily press-ups and swimming sessions.

"As a boxer, he was a British schoolboy champion in the 1936 and Southern Command army champion in 1945. He was also a decent football player and Millwall supporter, regularly attending matches."

A second person added: "In real life he used to be an army PT and Jungle warfare instructor. Whether he had a gymshark t shirt and a pair of spangly pants is unknown…"

One fan laughed: "I remember he was on a talk show shortly before his passing… whacked his blazer off and started banging on some press ups for fun!"
